Of Jamaican and Quebecois origin, Modlee has traveled between Quebec and the United States, and has been influenced as much by jazz, soul and R&B as by gospel and reggae. Active in the music world since 2009, she initially ventured into the world of beat making and made a few vocal collaborations on instrumental albums. She has worked with Alaclair Ensemble and rappers Eman and KNLO, among others. Her own album Soul Urge – produced in collaboration with VLOOPER – was released in 2022. Modlee has performed at many of Quebec’s major festivals, including the Festival de Jazz, FEQ, La Noce, FME and Santa Teresa.
