Decypher
Documentary screening
Directed by Léo Caron (Bboy Fléau), Decypher offers a deep dive into the history of breaking in Montreal, a discipline at the heart of hip-hop culture. Through a rich collection of previously unseen archival footage and testimonies from key figures in Montreal’s scene, the documentary traces the evolution of this dance from its earliest appearances in the streets and communities of Montreal to its current reach and visibility.
Between collective memory, cultural transmission, and the raw energy of movement, Decypher shines a light on the people, events, and spaces that have helped shape Montreal’s breaking scene across generations.
Co-directed with Adrian Colina, himself an active member of the scene, the documentary offers an authentic, embodied perspective on a living culture—driven by passion, creativity, and a deep sense of community.
