Like battles, freestyle cyphers are an essential aspect of Hip-Hop Culture, and can include many styles of expression. This year at JOAT we are hosting a Vocal Cypher Workshop, facilitated by 4 veterans of the Montréal Hip-Hop community.
This will be an open level workshop with instruction provided in French and English but with room for all languages to be shared. This Vocal Cypher Workshop will teach the basics of freestyle rap and improvised singing techniques within the Hip-Hop context.
Organised by Rupert Common (The Stew Jams), and with DJ Lady Oracle (CJLO) on the 1s and 2s, the workshop will culminate with an optional performance cypher at the popping prelims! All vocalists are welcome on stage.
