Based in Montreal, Jack Of All Trades is a platform that celebrates Street Dance and the artistic practices connected to it.
Also, recognized worldwide for its international festival, JOAT brings together artists from here and abroad.
Jack Of All Trades, a term that expresses the ability of multidisciplinarity, was created in 2014 to inspire a broader artistic articulation within the Popping dance community.
We did so by inviting freedom of expression and by highlighting the pluridisciplinary qualities that this practice contains.
JOAT battle was created as an extension of that intention. The platform’s influence was felt in the local and international community. In 2016, we sketched out a festival representing JOAT’s intrinsic identity, which is multidisciplinarity.
Since then, the festival includes Street Dance and its related art forms such as visual arts, music production, DJing, and other types of cultural events.
JOAT is a place of celebration, democratization, conscientization, and valorization of street dance and it’s associated art forms.
We want to bring together creative minds. This intention manifests itself through our festivals, events, and cultural activities at national and international levels.
We believe that giving visibility, encouraging, and showcasing talent from here and abroad is one of the best ways to showcase this community. We also want to inspire and touch our society through the channel of Street Dance.
Granting new creative ideas, supporting new and innovative arts in Street Dance culture and related artistic practices.
Promote, celebrate, honor and preserve Street Dance and its associated arts.
To support artistic equality in Quebec by giving also attention and opportunities to communities identified as “diversity” in Quebec and elsewhere.
To encourage artistic excellence and refinement.
